Some plans just don't work!

Okay, so I had this great plan last week. But if there is one thing I know it is that if I set a plan in motion I can guarentee one thing, something will come up to change me plan.

I write this as I watch TV for the 5th day in a row. I have been laid up with a nasty nasty cold. I still have a cough and slight sore throat but am very light headed. My muscles want to move but my head says no way, Jose!

So I failed my exercising goal last week. It is my goal this week to walk everyday starting tomorrow. I don't think I can do my yoga classes and weight lifting classes until at least Wednesday. But I will walk. I can't sit around another week doing nothing.

I find it interesting that while stuck in bed all I could dream about was going to my exercise classes. I've really turned a page in my life. I not only need to exercise but want to exercise. Wow. I think I will be amazed by this change for the rest of my life.

I'm not done yet. I just have to keep reminding myself of that bit of information.

Back on track!

What a great day! Not only did I do the step/yoga class, I also walked for 30 minutes afterward! Wow. Last week I did 350 minutes of exercise. I am hoping to top that by 100 minutes this week. I know that seems quite ambitious, but I think I can do it! Also, I am going to get back into the habit of walking for 30 minutes everyday, no excuses. And the other exercise I do does not count for those 30 minutes of walking. So you see adding 100 extra minutes of exercise won't be difficult if I add 30 minutes of walking a day.

Last Thursday I wasn't feeling like exercising. I did manage to walk for 30 minutes, which felt good. Friday I went to yoga class, Saturday I did step/cardio kick/weight training class. Sunday was my daughter's gymnastics meet, but I didn't let that stop me. I walked for 30 minutes Sunday night. Reminder, never have a can of beer with dinner before going on the treadmill, lol!

Not feeling it...

I am so very tired this morning. I can't get motivated to do anything. I didn't go to kickboxing. I could give a hundred excuses but the fact remains that I didn't do it. :(

At the suggestion of a friend, I am not going to weigh myself until I go to Fitness Ridge. She was once told by Mercedes not to get on the scale for 6 months. I can't do that because I have to get on the scale at FR. But that is scaring the bejesus out of me as it is. I am so addicted to my scale. It was hard enough not taking my scale with me on vacation for those two weeks. But now not to get on the scale for 67 days. Ugh.

I have to remember my journey is about getting healthy not about what the scale says. I am seeing changes in the shape of my body. My upper body has more definition. I wish my lower body would change faster, but it too has gotten smaller.

I just have to remember, I'm not done yet!

Happy Ash Wednesday!

I went to step class this morning. Didn't do the Body Sculpting class tonight because I hadn't eaten due to it being Ash Wednesday. Fasting does not bode well for intense exercising.

Plan to do the kickboxing class tomorrow at the Y. I am a little nervous to try this class because my friend teaches it. I'm going to feel judged. I know she won't but I can't help how I feel. My nervousness aside, I am excited to try something new. My exercise journey is taking me to so many new places!

I actually did the jumping jacks in step class today. I also did the hopping on the step. I usually don't do either. So this week, I ran, I hopped and I did jumping jacks. Small steps but huge accomplishments!

I climbed a mountain!

Wow, it's been a week and a half, but I climbed a mountain in Phoenix. We set out to hike to the top of Cambelback Mountain. Echo Trail is described a 1.2 mile hike to the top of Camelback. They lied. The trail is nothing more than a vertical climb up 1,300 ft of rocks. But I did it and loved it! Took me almost a week to recover. My quads hurt so bad I had to hang onto something every time I sat down.

Sadly, I didn't work out at all when I was in Orlando. But I have started back up today with the Valentine's virtual 3k. I did it in 29 min and 46 seconds. I walked at 3.8 miles per hour pushing myself up to 4 m/h on the treadmill for a couple of minutes here and there. I even jogged the last 30 seconds. It didn't even hurt to run. I am going to have to try that again.

Tomorrow, I start back to my regular workout routine. I will also focus on eating better. I did great in Phoenix, but in Orlando I had red meat everyday. I can't remember the last time I ate so much beef. But those burgers and beers were so good! Gotta be able to splurge every now and again. But back to eating well and exercising daily. I feel much better when I do. Salmon and rice for dinner tonight. Yummy.

I'm not done yet!

Vacation Workouts

I arrived in Phoenix around 3:30 on Saturday. Al and i immidiately headed to the pool. Swam a couple of laps then sat in hot tub.

Sunday, I got up at 6:30 and went to the exercise center. What a fabulous workout center. 20 cardio stations, a full weight curcuit, free weights, exercise balls, resistance bands... I rode a bike for 30 minutes. Heart rate about 140. Loved the bike, had my own tv to watch, could hook up ipod and record my workout session on ipod. Just loved the room. They also provided headphones for their equipment, incase you didn't have any.

Today at 6:o0 the cardio stations were completely full. I did the weight curcuit while hubby used free weights. Didn't quite make 30 minutes, but I intend to do my situps yet and to do a 30 minute cardio after lunch.

I am so glad that I made a plan for eating while I am here. I have been doing really good following that plan, well except last nigh. We ate at an Irish pub so I had shepards pie, but did order a salad, too. It was divine. And I didn't eat all of it nor did I order any desert. I haven't been journaling my food. Been too busy and out and about. So it will be interesting to see what the scale says when i get home. I'll start journaling again today.

I do feel that I have been making healthy choices and limiting what and when I eat. But the most exciting part is getting my exercise in each day. I can do this.
